Thermage is a company based in Hayward, California that released a product that was hailed for its innovation at the time. The ThermaCool Treatment Tip had the potential to serve as an alternative to those consumers who felt that they were in need of a facelift. However, the product encountered problems after it was released into the marketplace.
The product worked by releasing radio waves that heated the layer of tissue located just beneath the surface of the skin. These waves stimulated the production of collagen that toned and tightened the skin it affected as the patient healed. It was seen as an affordable and efficient alternative to facial surgery, and it drew rave reviews for a time.
