Medical devices have been shown to be of tremendous help for doctors, medical staff members and patients. However, as you’ve seen, the potential for serious injuries or even death is often present with these new advances. Progress always involves struggle, and that’s no different in the world of medical technology.

However, there are other areas of concern as our world and our economy continues to advance. Below are a few resources available to you to help you stay abreast of problems, dangers and warnings that could affect your life in a significant way.

FDA

The FDA is charged with protecting the public from dangerous food, drugs, equipment and almost any other product that is used by, on or for individuals. Check this site regularly for updates, as they are posted often.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission

This government agency is responsible for helping protect the public from more than 15,000 products. Like the FDA’s Web site, this site is updated often, so visit it regularly to check for any products you may have used.

Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection

The FTC is charged with protecting the public from injuries that are more economic in nature, as they report fraudulent practices, scams and cover-ups in order to help you avoid these situations.

Consumer.gov

This site is more of a portal for consumers to visit for ongoing and completed issues regarding thousands of products and markets.

Recalls.gov

At the behest of the President, this site exists as a resource for all product recalls either ongoing or completed.

United States Depatment of Agriculture

This site helps to alert consumers about food products that have been found to be dangerous or potentially dangerous.

There are also several private organizations in existence to help you understand and be notified of events that could affect your health and safety. If you have been injured by a product, contact an attorney immediately.
